Booker Elected Newark Mayor in a Landslide

Cory Booker defeated the old corrupt guard, in today’s election for mayor of Newark. He has a huge job in front of him and I wish him the best. It’s not going to be easy with an entrenched bureaucracy used to treating taxpayer money as their own personal bank account.

May the people of Newark have turned a page on the long nightmare that was Sharpe James.

A major change in Newark’s politics and management could have a profound impact, not only for the people of Newark, but for the entire state. An honest leader, with the will and tenacity to try new ideas and abandoned the failed programs of the last 35 years could send shockwaves across the state.

Much hope and faith has been placed in Cory Booker, I just pray he doesn’t let us down. I will go to bed tonight optimistic about New Jersey for the first time in a long, long time. New Jersey desperately needs change, may this be the beginning of a tidal wave of change to come.

He has to contend with decades of corruption that runs through every level of city government. I wish him well.

If he can pull it off, he'll appear on the national scene.
